	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST

AB 1723, Nakano. Elections: polling places.
Existing law prescribes the duties of elections officials in
connection with the designation of polling places, and specifies
certain facilities that may be used as polling places.
This bill would prohibit the use of a candidate's residence as a
polling place for an election at which that candidate's name will
appear on the ballot.

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. Section 12287 is added to the Elections Code, to read:

12287. A candidate's residence shall not be designated as a
polling place for an election at which that candidate's name will
appear on the ballot.
